1) moral or cultural decline as characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury.
2) luxurious self-indulgence
Let's face it. There is something about excess that attracts us all. Something in our souls which craves it: That inner desire for more. As we look toward our second issue here at Mythridate, we have seen the yearning for escapism. For self-care. For luxury. Whether it be a 24 hour movie marathon of scenery-chewing Gothic romance, or the endless opulence of the 1920's, Gatsby-esque parties, we have heard the call, and arrived to it intrigued.
For our second issue we therefore invite you submit works which explore the theme of decadence. As always we are open to whatever interpretation you find yourself inspired by. We are especially interested in works centering on royalty, wealth, corruption, indulgence, religion, and romance. Your exploration of these topics can be positive or negative, but must in some way relate back to the issue's theme.
